Therapy by Neeraj – Neeraj mall

We all have times in our life when we may need some help. This is particularly true for mental health and psychological issues. Some people need a little help for a short period, others need more intensive therapy. We are all different after all.

I am an integrative counsellor and use various approaches in therapy to meet the individual needs of my clients. The types of people I work with and the types of scenarios I deal with include the following:

  • Trauma informed therapy
  • Bereavement support
  • Bereavement support for groups of people
  • Couples therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Counselling for corporations

I also undertake group therapy based on particular topics. For example, we can explore powerful techniques such as inner child work (resolving childhood emotions and experiences) and healing the mother wound (balancing negativity and forgiveness towards maternal figures).

As well as this, I work with clients on specific presenting issues. These may be themes that are causing them difficulties in their personal lives, with their own mental wellbeing, or simply be issues that individuals feel will be beneficial to work through with a counsellor:

  • Relationships
  • Anger
  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Childhood trauma
  • Sexual abuse
  • Grief
  • Spiritually

What is integrative counselling?

Integrative counselling is a technique that brings together different tools to tailor a package of therapy to help the individual towards their recovery goals. It is a bit like baking a cake - bringing together different ingredients to create a whole that is bigger than the sum of its parts.

There is often no “one method fits all” when it comes to assisting people through counselling and psychotherapy. I will draw on the most appropriate techniques to develop an integrated approach to help you as an individual, or as a couple, group or family unit, to move forward.

Integrative counselling considers the person’s behavioural, cognitive and psychological systems to offer explanation and insight into their behaviours, feelings and beliefs. This approach enables a holistic programme of counselling and psychotherapy to be agreed upon that will effect change.

Some of the approaches I include in a package of integrative counselling include:

  • Psychodynamic theory - Interpreting mental and emotional processes with you.
  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) - Tools to enable you to change your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes to positively affect your behaviours and feelings.
  • Humanistic therapy - Techniques to help you realise your true self to achieve self fulfillment.

I believe that integrated therapy is most effective when identified styles and tools can work together in the best way for you.

How we will develop a plan together

When we set out on a journey together to devise an integrative counselling plan, we do so by drawing on the most relevant tools to help you progress and achieve your goals.

During the first session, we’ll explore what is going on with you, some of your past experiences and what it is you hope to achieve. You might call this an “assessment”, but it’s really just a way of agreeing on your personal plan and how we will implement it together.

The impact of Covid-19 on mental health

Mental health is an especially pressing concern for us all during this extremely difficult time. Covid-19 has had, and will have for some time, an unprecedented impact upon the mental wellbeing of many.

If you have already recognised that you are having some difficulty as a result of the pandemic, and its impact on society, your family and you as an individual, then this is an important first step. Taking action to address what is going on and to take a proactive approach to restoring the balance of your mental health has never been so crucial.

I offer face to face Therapy in Birmingham Fiveways, as well as therapy online.

How online counselling and therapy works

Internet-enabled therapy can be very effective and offer several advantages. I deliver real-time sessions on a web platform. Internet-based therapy is accessible for people with disabilities or those who are geographically based some way from my practice.

Internet sessions can also be very beneficial if you suffer from anxiety or have difficulty travelling. It can also reduce the stress that you may have with face-to-face therapy sessions. We can mix and match physical and online appointments. Online sessions can also be good during the early stages when we’re getting to know each other and building trust.

You, me and confidentiality

Everything we discuss and work through is strictly confidential. You will need to understand though that if you disclose anything that may put yourself or others at risk, then I may need to break confidentiality to make sure everyone is safe.

Before you begin working with me as a counsellor and therapist, it’s useful that you understand the types of therapies I will be using.

Attachment Styles

We are social beings. We seek contact and relationships with others to provide and receive love, support and comfort. However, for many of us, relationships are not as problem-free as we would like them to be.

I operate a transparent pricing policy so that you always know how much you will pay per session.

Get in touch

If you have recognised that therapy could help you, and would like to discuss your circumstances, needs and goals, then get in touch and we can begin to explore how I can help.
