This therapy promotes positive change rather than dwelling on past problems. It is a goal-focused, future-looking form of therapy that focuses on finding solutions to issues that may present at the present time. Solution-focused brief therapy will also help you formulate behavioural change that can be sustained.

Who it can benefit:

This form of therapy tends to be particularly useful for people who aren’t suffering from major mental health issues but who need support to address a particular problem or situation. A programme of solution-focused brief therapy can also be beneficial for children or teenagers with anxiety, depression or self-esteem issues as well as behavioural problems.

How I will apply it to work with you

I will encourage you to focus positively on what you do well, set goals and work out how to achieve them. I will help you to identify how life will be different when a problem is solved or the situation improves to a degree that is satisfactory to you. Just three or four sessions may be beneficial.
